Historical notes from Jacob Sjúrður Hansen:
Saltum-Neptun was established in 1923 as a small brewery brewing only low alc. beers and sweet malt beers. Later the production of soft drinks was started. The beer production stopped in the 1970s. Today it is owned by Carlsberg and still produces soft drinks but mainly for the discount market. It used to also bottle discount beers brewed at Carlsberg but now Carlsberg brews and bottle all the discount beers at its brewery in Fredericia for the Fakta supermarkets. Saltum-Neptun is still well known as a maker of discount soda drinks.
