Jacob Sjúrður Hansen reports:

Especialidades Cerveceras brewed the very best beers available in Mexico. Exellent taste in all their beer! In June 2005 a Mexican politician and businessman from Monterey, Mauricio Fernandez Garza, sold Especialidades Cerveceras to the world's second-largest Coca-Cola bottler Fomento Económico Mexicano S.A. (FEMSA), the mother company of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma (CCM). The Casta brewery was closed and production moved to CCM in Monterey, state of Nuevo León. Using its huge distribution network FEMSA has focused on an aggressive distribution of the Casta beers, which besides being available in major parts of Mexico now also are exported to parts of Asia, parts of Europe (via Italy) and the U.S.A. The labels that adorn the Casta bottles feature the work of Mexico’s most prominent artists including Sergio Hernandez, Ismael Vargos and Rodolfo Morales.
