As far as I could tell, Unionsbräu ferments, conditions, and serves their beer in wooden tanks and casks. The night I was there, a guy with an electric piano was singing such traditional German drinking songs as "Wake up little Susie", "I can see clearly now", "Save the last dance for me", and "Oh lonesome me". Fun place!

      Deep yellow, nearly opaque. Big thick head. Malty-yeasty aroma with herbal hops. Medium body. Grainy fairly sweet malt flavor with a background of herbal-floral hops. Remarkably clean fairly hoppy finish.

      Deep red, some haze, thick head. Lots of dark Munich malt aroma, slightly papery and musty. Big smooth body. Very nice dark Munich malt flavor all the way through. Mildly sweet, but the sweetness doesn't overwhelm the wonderful malt flavor.
