Golden-amber, moderate head. Herbal hop aroma, with some diacetyl. Light body, good caramel flavor, HUGE "Sam Smith's" hop flavor, moderately bitter. I found this bottle on eBay, and while I admit I paid too much for the beer, the label on the bottle more than makes up for it. (Little did I know that the beer would be imported to the US just a few months later.)

Beautiful bright red-brown color. Nice dense head. Chocolatey, toasty, earthy aroma. Light-medium body, mildly fizzy. Big dark caramel flavor, fairly roasty with some oak character. Big earthy hop flavor, mild bitterness. Resiny, oaky finish. The name is said to come from the Old Norse words rygg (back) and velte (to over turn); a sheep that is on its back and can't get up is said in the local dialect to have riggwelted.
