Spaten was acquired in 1858 by Gabriel Sedlmayr, and in 2003 by Interbrew. The original brewery was founded some six hundred years ago, and it took the name Spaten 225 years later.

      Brown opaque beer, tight head. Mildly toasty aroma, with even milder clove. Medium body. Sweet and toasty with a little taste of clove. Finishes fizzy and malty with some bananas.
