Formerly Liberty Brewing, until Fritz Maytag said "no". Oregon Ale and Beer Company (Jim Koch's West-Coast company) is apparently located at this same address. It's all very confusing. Saxer purchased the Nor'Wester brand after the latter company bit the dust in 1997. Saxer was in turn purchased by MacTarnahan's a couple of years later.

Bright red, high carbonation, huge head. Sweet, earthy aroma. Pretty thick, kinda bitter. Lots of caramel. A little metallic at the very end. Thanks to Chuck Farnham for the bottle!

Pale, moderate carbonation, OK head. Fruity nose...like hops, not lemon. Tastes like sweet lemon soda. Some malt behind that. Might not be bad without the lemon. Twelve points is very generous.

Light amber, clear, good carbonation and head. Smells like Redhook. Bah! ...to Tettnangs. Sour flavor, biscuity. Some bitterness in finish, but not a lot. Some astringency.

Bright pale golden, moderate head. Sweet, malty, fruity aroma. Light body, malty-sweet. Quite a lot of fruity hop character with a very mild bitterness. Fizzy, sweet finish.
