Their Downtown Brown is about the best Brown around. Be sure to check out Humboldt Brewing while you're there...these two breweries were the impetus for my 1992 Beer Odyssey.
Located at 617 Fourth Street until 2014.

Dark bright red. Huge dense head. Big spicy hop aroma, with some toasty malt and just a hint of DMS. Medium body, moderately fizzy. Richly malty with lots of spicy hops. More malty-sweet than hop-bitter. It's been a long time, but it's still the Best Brown Around. -

Dark red, low carbonation, almost no head. Brown sugar and brown malt aromas. Very low carbonation, a little bitter. Good malty flavor and brown malt finish. Label is punched "February 1996". Thanks to Paris Cunningham for bringing this beer to Hawai`i for me! -

Nice dark brown, great head. Chocolatey-malty aroma...Cascades? Thick and smooth. Lots of malt sweetness, but not cloying at all. Mildly bitter finish. Defines the style...beats Newcastle hands-down. -

Not nearly as sweet as the Dunkel Hefeweizen. An excellent Brown! I like it better than the Hefe.
