Microbrewery with a tasting room that seated maybe fifteen people when I was there in July 1994...sounds like they've expanded and extensively upgraded since then. Now they're distributing beer throughout central Virginia.
2007-09-27: Legend regular Tom Hostenske offers his views:
Just some info on Legends. I am a regular and they have a great product. Just came out with an Octoberfest that is about as good as it gets. These seasonals typically "sell" out in a week or two. Have a deck for beer and food (beer garden?) that overlooks James and downtown Richmond. Well worth the visit.

Red. Not brown at all. Roasty and spicy aroma, slightly overhopped, some alcohol late. Toasty. Sweeeeet.

Bright yellow. Lagered for a long time. Hops and alcohol aroma, but you have to try hard. Bitter, then sweet. Long sweet finish.

Yellow, hazy. Good head. Spicy hop nose. Flavor is spicy and sharp. Sharp and bitter.
