The Basil T's in Red Bank is not related to the one in Toms River, but they serve the same beers for the most part. (At least they did during my visit in 2003.) This one's got an impressive antipasto bar.

Available October through March. Almost but not quite black, with a thick head. Mildly roasty aroma. Medium creamy body. Hugely roasty. Nice sweet maltiness behind the roastiness. This has all the makings of an excellent Porter…but the diacetyl ruins it.

Bright brown, nice thick head. Toasty aroma, with honey undertones. Medium body. Really quite sweet, with some diacetyl competing with the roasty, malty flavors.

Black, thick dense brown head. Very mildly roasty aroma. Light creamy body, nice and roasty and dry with a very tasty maltiness carrying it all. It's just a little too dry to be sweet and a little too sweet to be dry. Thanks to Bill Pullen for treating me to the pint!
