Wow. Big-bodied intensely flavored beer that blasted through my teeth right out the back of my head. Malty, chocolaty, fairly hoppy, and bitter. Spicy and earthy. Alcoholic and warming. Lingering roasty malty finish, somewhat harsh.

Batch #26. Deep bright red, high carbonation, lots of floating bits. Malty, raisiny, oaky aroma - very Thomas-Hardy-like. Big creamy body, extremely malty, phenolic at the end. Otherwise excellent. Thanks to Steve Olson for the bottle!

Batch #26. Dark red opaque, thick head. Smells chocolatey like Golden Rose, but more subdued. Big body, big alcohol, sweet, roasty. Some papery notes. 10% abv...up from last time.

Batch #17. Dark brown opaque, OK head. Roasty-malty-alcoholic aroma. Chewy, treacly, alcoholic flavors. Some smokiness late. I could drink a lot of this...until I fell down. A bitter high-test version of Old Peculier? Good toffee finish...tastes like candy. 8% v/v. Thanks to Paris Cunningham for bringing this beer to Hawai`i for me!
