Michael Jackson's The New World Guide to Beer contains a fascinating history of this brewery.

Jacob Sjúrður Hansen reports:

Carlsberg will close this brewery by 2008 moving all production of the Carlsberg, Tuborg and Wiibroe beer brands to the Carlsberg brewery in Fredericia after celebrating 160 years of brewing. The speciality brewery Jacobsen Husbryggeri will still remain though and so will the head quarters.

Husbryggeriet Jacobsen is now the visitor center on the grounds of the Carlsberg brewery.

    • Date: January 23, 2002 (#4139)
      Package: bottled
      Score: 18 points
      Overall Impression (3)
Bright amber, low carbonation, thick head. Caramel malt and spicy hop aroma. Medium-almost-big body, hugely malty, mild hop flavor and bitterness. Drying mildly alcoholic finish with rich malty notes. Jackson calls it a Vienna lager of fest strength, but it works nicely as a Bock, too.
