Brass Monkey opens in So. Omaha

The Brass Monkey on 36th and V St., Omaha opened on election day. They currently have 20 taps and a lot of bottles THAT ARE VERY AFFORDABLE. They are adding 13 more as soon as the get their distributor to set if up; it should be in a couple of weeks. They want to add local brewers as well. They have classic domestics. Grain Belt for a $1 & Pitchers of classic beer for under $5. They also carry a good selection of craft beer as well. The have craft buckets for $13 but I wouldn't the beers whether pints or bottles will never run more than $3....$2.50 avg price for craft by themselves. Those don't have to drive from the southern part of Douglas county to go to the Crescent Moon which I highly recommend.
The Big Sky IPA was stellar. If you like beer and don't want to deal with the college crowd this is your place.
Will add pictures later.

I've visited the Brass Monkey a couple of times now, and so far I'm impressed. They've already got a couple dozen taps installed, and they're putting in 12 more this week. They have a good selection of micros and imports, and dozens of bottled beers besides. Be advised there's no kitchen in the place, although they do have a popcorn machine. Kevin and Maria are fun people who are very enthusiastic about beer. They're even interested in carrying my Gottberg Impromptu Pale Ale as soon as they get the rest of their taps installed! The Brass Monkey is definitely the new South Omaha beer destination.
have fun

P.S. Bill, feel free to post the pictures that you took, or else email them to me so I can get them posted.

Thank you for getting those pics posted Richard. We had a wonderful time with you, Chris and Paris on Saturday. Thanks for bringing in all the good beer drinkers. Our Pale Ale ROCKS!

It has been a year since the Brass Monkey has opened. The places has gotten much better than expected. They have a Mug club which you can drink 36 beers(any craft) and get a 1/2 lt mug which if you bring it back the will refill it for $2.75 which is cheap. Gone are the Mexican beers and Old Skool beers. they now have 38 taps and two of them being beer engines. Yes, cast conditioned beers here in Nebraska that is not a brewery! They have a sampling of seasonal s, German, Belgium(Styles) and the Best Selection of Nebraska Beers anywhere here in the state. (I love beers but someone to support local brewers rates high with me.) Nebraska has some great things going on here and this is one place that supports it. If you can't find a couple of beers you like; you don't like beer. To me there isn't a beer I don't like....some better than others.
Kevin and Maria are very involved wtih the community and charities. Over the past year I have found them to be very giving and involved with the community at large. This is a place that is doing everything right for everyone. For Omaha I would have to give this place 5 stars.
