Aroma (3) Coffee. Licorice. A bit oxidized, sherry.
Mouthfeel (6) Medium-big body, smooth. Malty, roasty-sweet. A little tart and fairly oxidized.
Overall Impression (1) This was probably a magnificent Stout when it was fresh. Thanks to Bull & Castle bartender Declan for digging this up! This was their last bottle, and he gave it to me for free.
Appearance (3) Dark brown. Opaque. Dense beige head.
Aroma (3) Big fruity, citrusy hops. Mildly chocolatey.
Mouthfeel (9) Medium body, nicely smooth. Chocolatey malt and citrusy hops. Nicely bitter in the middle, and the hop flavor returns for the finish. A bit of yeast at the end.
Aroma (2) Very earthy. Roasty. Maybe some oxidation.
Mouthfeel (6) Light-medium body. Creamy. Lots of malt, nicely roasty. Fairly papery, which is too bad, because it's a good beer otherwise — like the Guinness of old.
Overall Impression Black-brown, thick head. Earthy, mildly roasty aroma with some licorice. Light body, very low carbonation. Very black, burnt, acidic. Lots of earthy, herbal hop flavor.
