Big place...upstairs, street level, and basement. Pool tables upstairs. Directions: It's on the west side ("lower") of downtown Denver, not far from Union Station, at the corner of 18th and Wynkoop.

  Dark red, transparent. Alcoholic aroma, dark. Alcoholic taste. Very sweet. Not very bitter. Warming. Good dark flavors. Lots of body. I like it, but it's out of style. (I think.) Tastes like a Barleywine, but it's not.

Lots of black pepper.

Medium body. Huge peppery flavor, with lots of more subtle herbal flavors. Good caramel flavor for a base.

Real interesting stuff.

Overall Impression
Yellow-amber OK. BIG thick head. Not much aroma there. Faint fruity hops (same character as the Railyard) and faint maltiness. Tastes Just Like the Railyard, but thicker, sweeter. Very little carbonation.

"Altbier", they claim. Yellow. Pretty clear. Good head. Fruity...raspberries? No, but it sure smells like it. Thick. Pretty clean. Definitely Alt-flavored.

Yellow. Some haze. Reasonable head. Chili aroma! Very nice indeed! Light body...assertive chili flavor is a creeper. Fizzy. Compares very favorably with Dan Holm's (ex-Brown Street, Napa CA). Roasted jalapeño flavor.

Black opaque. (Hard to judge clarity through a plastic mug.) Roasty, chocolate aroma. Thick, but not a lot of flavor besides sweetness. Some flowery hops. Tastes OK, but not impressive.

Nice amber color. Thin white head. No visible bubbles rising! Clear. Smells like grape juice! (Or else my nose is on the fritz.) Some crystal malt aroma too. Malty, caramel...but that "fruity" aroma comes through too. Slightly bitter short finish. Sweet. Surprisingly fizzy, considering the appearance. "An Oktoberfest-style German beer."

Black opaque, flat head. Some coffee aroma. Otherwise, not much...not particularly burnt. Good body, burnt flavors. Coffee, not chocolate. Just a little astringent - OK.

Citrusy, lemony.

Mouthfeel (9)
Medium body, fizzy. Sweet toasty malt with a big citrus flavor. Low-medium bitterness. Fruity, biscuity finish.

Overall Impression (2)
Good beer. Spiced with grains of paradise. Proceeds go to the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund. Thanks to Brandon Cutaia for the can!

Lots of dark caramel and some spicy hops.

Mouthfeel (8)
Light-medium body. Lots of caramel malt flavor all the way through. Mild herbal-grassy-earthy hop flavor, real mild bitterness.

Quite red, clear and flat. Good caramel malt nose. Hops in background. A touch too fruity. Pretty sweet. Good body. Good bitterness. Maybe a hint of sourness? (Not sure.)

Pretty pale. Served with lemon, which I promptly removed. Clear. Minimal head. German hop aroma, with some wheat malt. Soapy? Clean and sweet. Definite hop character, but not bitter at all. BAH! to lemons.
