Warteck was purchased by Feldschlösschen in 1989, and this brewery was subsequently closed in 1991. Feldschlösschen still brews the Warteck beers.

      Aroma (3½)
      Toasty and roasty, with mild earthy hops.
      Mouthfeel (9)
      Medium body, fizzy. Sweetly roasty, with a fair bit of chocolate. Mild noble bitterness.

      Bright golden. Thick head.
      Aroma (4)
      Fine noble hops. Mild grainy malt.
      Mouthfeel (10)
      Light-medium body, nicely smooth. Clean tasty malt supports an herbal, mildly earthy, floral noble hop flavor. Very nicely-balanced bitterness. A little sulfury.
      Overall Impression (3)
      Very good beer; a great way to start this trip!
