Date: March 13, 2001 (#3794)Package: bottledPlace: Steve's Liquors, Madison WIScore: 11½ pointsOverall Impression (2½)
Dark brown, almost black. Thick but short-lived head. Sweet, black malt aroma, but not sharp. Earthy. Medium-full body, low carbonation, slightly astringent. Earthy brown malt, with black malts inthe background. Balance shifts from malt at the start to hop finish, then back to sweet. Herbal hop flavor. Hop bitterness in finish. (Note: I orginally scored this beer on the BJCP 50-point scale. It earned 29 points, which translates to 11½ out of 20. If I had done it on the 20-point scale originally, it probably would have scored about 13.) -
