Overall Impression Bright golden. High carbonation. Thick head. Spicy aroma, with lots of fresh malt. Light-medium body. Mildly astringent. Hugely fruity, but not all that bitter.
Mouthfeel (9) Big and chewy. Spicy and nicely alcoholic. Huge toasty malt.
Overall Impression (3) Very tasty complex beer, with a great story that illustrates the cooperative nature of the people in the craft brewing industry.
Overall Impression Black. Nice dense head. Smells very alcoholic, like schnapps. Big body, real smooth. Lots of alcohol, lots of licorice. Mildly roasty, and mildly minty. Sweet and alcoholic.
Overall Impression Bright deep brown, thick head. Moderate spicy hop aroma. Medium body, lots of dark caramel flavor, moderate hop flavor and bitterness, drying.
Mouthfeel (8) Medium smooth body, moderate carbonation. Rich dark malt with an earthy character. Mild grassy hop flavor, moderate bitterness. Resiny finish.
Overall Impression Bright golden — if you don't pour out the yeast like I did. Nice thick head. Malty, sweet aroma, with a nice dose of Belgian spiciness. Medium-big body, fairly fizzy. Malty and sweet. Very spicy and very warming. Sweet hot finish. This beer would probably benefit from a year or two in the cellar.
Mouthfeel (9) Huge. Intense oak flavor on top of an intense maltiness. Lots of alcohol, but surprisingly well-balanced. Mild bitterness that might actually be coming from the wood.
Overall Impression (3) Very intense beer, and a very tasty one. OG 1.135. Brewed May 2006, Batch 2.
Overall Impression (2) "Bottled 2004." This is probably an amazing beer, but it's going to take time — a lot of time — to mellow out. I'm definitely going to buy more and cellar it for a couple of years.
