In 1988, "Electric" Dave Harvan was the first person in Arizona to receive a brewer's license since Prohibition. Electric Dave's Brewing had been closed for a while, during Dave's unfortunate legal problems, but the Southwest Brewing News reports that he had reopened his brewery in 2001.

The brewery has re-opened under new owners in August 2020. Read their story.
