I visited Ravensburg in October 2006 and walked from one end of Friedhofstraße to the other, but I couldn't find any address "20-36". The bartender at the Brauereigaststätte (Friedhofstraße 1) insisted it exists, though. Turns out I didn't walk quite far enough...it's on the other side of the cemetery. Andreas Praefcke explains:
Leibinger is indeed in Friedhofstraße, but way up. You were here: Map (Gaststätte Storchen). It's the former Brauereigaststätte of Bürgerliches Brauhaus, bought by Farny some years ago. The brewery, which was located just opposite on Friedhofstraße, has been demolished recently. Now there is a new housing complex on the site. However, the brewery's office building is still extant. Google's satellite image is old enough to still show the brewery : Map
Now follow Friedhofstraße up, until you get past the cemetery (Friedhof) at the left. On the right, there is the Leibinger brewery: Map
Ravensburgers have always made fun of the fact that you got headache from Bürgerliches, while you don't from Leibinger. The cause is of course that Leibinger gets his water from above the cemetery, while Bürgerliches had to take water that had just circulated in the cemetery for a while... ;-)
A great beergarden is Bärengarten (of Bürgerliches Brauhaus), by the way (Map). However, for legal reasons, it's only open 5 days a year during the annual Rutenfest in summer.
So today (2006-12-05) I finally found the place. As usual, I misread a sign and ended up hiking all the way up the hill behind the brewery and down the other side. And when I arrived at the Stube at 1:45pm, I found the note on the door saying they'd be open at 4:00. So I hiked back down the hill and had a quick Farny beer at the Bürgerlisches Brauhaus on my way to the train station. Andreas and I will have to meet up some other time.
